This project has been running for about 40 years!! It arose from an idea for a computerised database of  the world's languages sketched by Dr. Joe Grimes in the early 1970s which was ahead of its time and didn't get off the ground.

In my 'spare time' I have been collecting wordlists, vocabularies and dictionaries from the some 16-20 languages, and hesitating  between entering words from all the languages for each vocabulary item in turn in the comparative database, and making a dictionary for each language and merging them.  The latter plan prevailed.
